Beautiful For Situation

Now these are the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, to wit, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon’s servants. – Nehemiah 11:3

ProgramPage_MightyFallenToday, I would like to focus on a single verse. Actually, I want to focus on a single word: province.

Look how David described the city of Jerusalem and its majesty.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. – Psalm 48:2

The once great city of Zion and kingdom of Israel is now reduced to a province of Persia. Because of Israel’s disobedience, the people we in bondage several times. The Lord delivered them out of their bondage each time but there were lasting consequences from their sins. One of those effects was that Israel would never return to her former glory as David described.

It is by our choices that we determine whether we will live day to day in the glory of the kingdom or as a shadow of the good blessings that once were. The quality of our church life lies not only in the hands of the pastor but ALL the members of the local church.

If we only partly devote ourselves to God and His church, we should expect no more than the experience of living in an insignificant province. However, if the church body unites in deep devotion to God and one another, they will reap the joys of living in the glorious kingdom of the gospel church!
