Look how David described the city of Jerusalem and its majesty.
Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. – Psalm 48:2
The once great city of Zion and kingdom of Israel is now reduced to a province of Persia. Because of Israel’s disobedience, the people we in bondage several times. The Lord delivered them out of their bondage each time but there were lasting consequences from their sins. It is by our choices that we determine whether we will live day to day in the glory of the kingdom or as a shadow of the good blessings that once were. The quality of our church life lies not only in the hands of the pastor but ALL the members of the local church.
If we only partly devote ourselves to God and His church, we should expect no more than the experience of living in an insignificant province. However, if the church body unites in deep devotion to God and one another, they will reap the joys of living in the glorious kingdom of the gospel church!
